Gymnasium & Convocation Center – 35,000 SF

The award-winning Gymnasium & Convocation Center at St. Ursula Academy project included the construction of a new 35,000 SF multi-purpose assembly space with seating for up to 1,000 people.  The center also includes a full range of athletic facilities including three basketball courts, four volleyball courts, eight badminton courts, a running track, coaches’ offices, varsity and physical education lockers, fitness room, training room, meeting rooms, and associated support areas.

The building incorporated tilt-up concrete panels to accelerate project completion, which garnered statewide attention for use in a restricted site.

Margaret Unnewehr Schott Hall – 37,500 SF

The 37,000 SF, three-story Margaret Unnewehr Schott Hall building includes new classrooms, science labs for biology, chemistry and physics; music rooms including an orchestra room, a choral room, two sectional rooms and several practice rooms and maintenance facility.

This project demonstrated HGC’s ability to work in a constricted site while allowing school operations to function throughout the process. The building is set at the edge of the campus in a historic residential neighborhood which required HGC to complete this project with minimal disruption to the surrounding residents. The safety of the students, staff and visitors was of utmost importance to the HGC staff.
