When our founder Richard J. Huseman started a construction company during the Great Depression, he did so with grit, integrity and an unrelenting commitment to do it right. Nearly 100 years later, those fundamental values continue to guide our people, our projects and our company culture.
In 1931, in the middle of the Great Depression, Richard J. Huseman started a construction company based on a simple set of values: hard work, craftsmanship, putting the customer first and doing it right.
The saying went, “When Huseman is on the job, you know it will be done right”. As our reputation for quality grew, institutions like the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Zoo selected HGC for unique projects.
In the 1980s and 1990s, we saw continued growth in the retail and industrial markets. HGC completed modular detention facilities in Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, and California.
Rooted in Depression-era resourcefulness, HGC gained recognition as a “green” contractor for reducing waste, repurposing buildings and materials, and maximizing efficiencies.
In 2020, industry veteran Adam Kuehne was named President of HGC Construction. Under his leadership, we continued to grow our experience as construction needs evolved in telecommunications and data storage, last mile delivery stations and air hub facilities.
In 2023, HGC opened an office in Columbus, Ohio, to better serve our regional partners and deliver our solutions-oriented approach to an ever-expanding market.
In 2026, Jake Suer is named President of HGC, leading the company into its next chapter of growth while building on nearly 100 years of trusted construction leadership.
I really like the women’s group because it shows the initiative towards gathering women in a supportive environment. I know a lot of other companies that the women feel like they’re competing against each other, but I feel like we are all working on one team and we all just get to be there for each other.
