ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER? Which side is right for you? You’ve likely heard people say that they tend to be more of a left-brained or right-brained thinker? As the theory goes, left-brained thinkers are said to have strong math and logic skills while those who are right-brained, possess more artistic and creative talents. According to the theory of left-brain or right-brain dominance, each side of the brain controls different types of thinking. Additionally, people are said to prefer one type of thinking over the other. For example, a person who’s left-brained is often described as more logical, analytical, and objective. Whereas, a person who is right-brained is often described as being more intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective. Of course these theories (they are just theories) bleed into the realm of construction. That is why we have created a calendar with a side for each side of the brain. Whether fair or unfair, engineers are often labeled as being left-brained – even their education is described as being, “left-brain dominant.” Architects are also pigeon-holed as being the more artistic and creative, righted-brained people. Both observations are true except for the many exceptions. At HGC we love collaborating with people who problem solve and push the creative envelope – no matter which side of the brain they favor. So regardless of where you land, please be sure to give us a call to discuss your next project. In the meantime, you can download the two-sided HGC Construction 2018 Calendar below.
