Taste of Belgium Opens at The Banks Taste of Belgium at The Banks is the fourth location for the popular restaurant chain. The restaurant will open its doors to the downtown Cincinnati dining crowd on Friday, October 28th. HGC Construction has been the proud construction partner on all of the locations to date with more planned for the future. The restaurant is situated between Great American Ball Park and Paul Brown Stadium with the GE Global Operations Center on the same block. The Banks is also home to loft-style luxury apartments with more under construction as well as a hotel under construction. Taste of Belgium will seat roughly 135 inside and 100 outside on the patio. The space also includes a private dining room that seats 12-14 people with views of the waffle-making line. The full bar includes 48 beers on tap with over 150 varieties of canned and bottled beer available. The food will be similar to what is served at the other three locations along with a full espresso bar and pastries for walk-up customers. The interior has marble herringbone floors, subway tile walls, and vintage ceiling fans. In the kitchen, a self-cleaning exhaust hood was installed. George Fryman, HGC superintendent, noted some of the unique challenges posed by working over an underground parking garage and under a high-rise building. The kitchen exhaust had to be vented sideways through the wall due to the high-rise above the building. With the parking below, the restaurant had to be constructed with a limited load-bearing capacity in mind. In the News: Bring on the waffles!
