HGC Construction restored the Cincinnati Dining Room and Historic Dining Rooms to the original glamour of Union Terminal’s glory days.  This project included masonry restoration and window replacement for a portion of the building exterior, installation of a vegetated roof over the project area, and integration of significant mechanical upgrades for the project area. This restoration project was completed while the facility remained operational and required the coordination of significant logistics and security requirements for everyone involved.

Work also included the complete disassembly and reconstruction of the perimeter masonry parapet walls and outside corners of the southwest wing in order to expose and examine the condition of the spandrel beams and columns. In addition to the exterior masonry work, all 40 of the existing windows in the southwest wing were replaced with custom operable steel windows that replicate the building’s original steel windows with insulated glass units. A green roof specifically engineered for the stringent weight restrictions of the existing concrete deck was installed on top of the Southwest wing.
