HGC Director of Safety, Bill Burke, ASP, OHST, SGE, was invited to speak at the 17th annual Ohio Valley Associated Builders and Contractors (OVABC) Safety Day. Held on Wednesday, January 15 at the David H. Ponitz Conference Center in Sinclair Community College, Safety Day “is designed for those interested in current information, best practices, and methods of reducing or eliminating work place injuries and illnesses.” HGC was recognized as “Safe Employer of the Year” at ABC Safety Day 2018. Bill led three separate sessions about the Voluntary Protection Program. The Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) is a national program of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA). As part of HGC’s commitment to safety, HGC has been VPP-certified since 2008. OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) status is awarded only to those companies demonstrating excellence in safety and health, as determined by a rigorous application process. VPP companies are committed to employee protection beyond the requirements of OSHA standards – with participants implementing comprehensive systems to reduce occupational hazards and prevent employee injuries and illnesses.
