portrait of Josh Hamilton, ForemanAt HGC Construction, we are proud of our collaborative and welcoming workplace culture. But we know that a lot of what makes our culture great is our incredible employees. Each month we highlight one member from our team. This month, get to know Foreman Josh Hamilton, who is trusted for his expertise in historic window replacements. He was recently the onsite Foreman for the USPS Cincinnati Headquarters renovation, which required 1,367 new windows. Other projects include the award-winning Amity Elementary renovation, and the Delta Chi House renovation at Miami University.

WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY?

Lead by example, not with your mouth.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT HGC?

I love watching an old historic building come back to life during a project. Once the job is complete, it’s amazing the difference we make.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO (FOR A CAREER) IF YOU WEREN’T DOING THIS?

Be a fishing guide in the Caribbean.

IF YOU COULD LEARN TO DO ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD BE?

Speak multiple languages fluently.

WHAT’S THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU GET HOME FROM WORK?

Take a nap! (I’m old). Then go to the gym to clear my head.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEW HIRE?

Always think ahead. A lot of mistakes can be avoided by preparing for the next step in advance.

BEFORE WORKING AT HGC, WHAT WAS THE MOST UNUSUAL OR INTERESTING JOB YOU HAD?

I have always worked in construction. This is all I know. I have had the opportunity to build some spectacular homes and bring some very old buildings back to life in my career. I still drive by them to this day as a reminder of where I came from.
