Employee Spotlight

HGC Construction would not be the company it is today without its incredible staff. Each month we highlight one member from our team with a Q&A session. Bob Pitz is a Superintendent for HGC Construction.

Employee Spotlight - Bob Pitz

WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is to do more than what is expected of me and to always look for solutions rather than dwell on the problems.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF WORKING AT HGC?

My favorite aspect of working at HGC is the willingness of our owners to adapt to an ever-changing industry.

ACROSS YOUR CAREER, WHAT HAS CHANGED THE MOST IN THE INDUSTRY?

What I believe has changed most in the industry is a decreasing desire in personal satisfaction of doing the job right and leaving knowing that the best effort was made to please the customer.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO ON YOUR DAYS OFF?

I enjoy working on my own projects at home.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO (FOR A CAREER) IF YOU WEREN’T DOING THIS?

If I was not in the construction industry, I would own a restaurant! I enjoy people and good food along with a fast-paced work environment. It would be a great opportunity to make people feel special and welcome.

TELL US SOMETHING THAT MIGHT SURPRISE US ABOUT YOU.

I have been on 6 mission trips to 3rd world countries installing water systems, building orphanages and churches.

OF WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD?

The one thing that I am most proud of is how I continue to grow as father, friend and employee. I am not afraid of change; I embrace it as an opportunity to grow.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW HIRE?

Don’t be too afraid to get involved! This new generation of thinkers can show us new ideas and we as veterans can take that knowledge and apply it.

ANYTHING ELSE?

I wake up everyday knowing I will make a difference somewhere to someone and that gives me the motivation to be the best me I can be.
