The Meshewa House

[1]Location: Cincinnati, OH
Customer:  Turner Farm [2]
Size: 11,500 SF

The Meshewa House at Turner Farm [4] is a new event space for The Village of Indian Hill. The manor house was originally built in the 1930s as one of the original mansions in the emerging equestrian community. HGC led a comprehensive renovation [5] to give the stately home a second chapter as a community gathering place.

The scope was extensive, and included completely rebuilding the second floor. While the original structure did have a second floor, the new design honors the aesthetic of the historic building, but is not an exact reproduction. The second floor space was largely unfinished for some time, but now has the addition of two meeting rooms, a lounge, restroom/shower room, and service access stairwell. The HGC crew also added four small dormers and two large dormers.

The exterior received a restored brick facade and a white wash patina on the brick. The addition of a grand stairwell in the main entrance makes an incredible first impression. Finishes include stained cherry wall paneling and moldings, stained stair assembly, stained wood and metal railings, and custom stained cherry bookshelves and seating bench assembly. Other details included refinishing existing white and red oak ¾” hardwood flooring.

The original garage wing was converted into several new spaces including a lounge, seating room, ADA-accessible restroom, and library. With a future as an event space, the crew built a top-of-the-line commercial kitchen, plus a prep kitchen and laundry room.

The existing solarium received the addition of a gas burning fireplace and coffered ceilings. A new, large three-panel sliding pocket door panel with full glass panels can open to connect to the outdoor patio. The patio features Hartstone/flagstone rile patios and ramps and handrails with lamb’s tongue detailing.
