HGC Construction provided full construction services for The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center on a project linking two free-standing buildings to form an art complex with added gallery space. HGC was called back to complete a $1.9 million renovation and addition to the center three years later. Work included re-plastering all of the walls, ceilings, ornate plasterwork and trim, building an addition to the back of the theater, installing support beams in the attic, detail carpentry work and restoring the original Harlan Hubbard mural above the stage. The renovated Carnegie Theater seats 450 and provides an intimate and beautiful setting for lecture, drama and music events. Improvements include an enlarged stage, a new projection and control booth, lighting, sound and climate control systems, an addition to the back of the theatre, restoration of the decorative ceiling rosette, proscenium arch and corner capital.
