HGC Construction was recently recognized with a Tilt-Up Achievement Award from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association. The award was in recognition of the work completed at CubeSmart Self Storage. Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction—one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. The tilt-up technique combines the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. See another tilt-up project in HGC’s portfolio. At CubeSmart, the HGC crew used tilt-up construction in a unique manner. Instead of merely pouring concrete, standing up the slabs, and painting them, a brick facade was cast-in with the tilt panels. The bricks were laid face down, then the concrete was poured on top of that. The project also used a wide variety of form liners to achieve an eye-catching texture in the building’s facade.
