On April 18, HGC received the Award of Excellence at the ABC Ohio Valley Chapter Excellence in Construction Awards gala. The award was bestowed in recognition of the exemplary performance on the Amity Elementary Addition and Renovation. HGC with sister company and fellow awardee SSRG at the ABC Ohio Valley Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony. The Excellence in Constructions Gala honors the skill and creativity of the entire team – contractors, owners, architects and engineers – responsible for an outstanding Merit Shop construction project. Award recipients exceed expectations in innovation and quality. The ceremony was held at the Sharonville Convention Center. Amity Elementary was truly a milestone project for HGC. The Deer Park community had worked tirelessly to pass a levy in order to update their K-6 facility, and therefore transparency and collaboration was paramount so that the community could feel part of the process. The project also required complex logistics so that school could remain open throughout the duration of the school year. Despite incredible unforeseen complications, the project was still finished on time and on budget, to a rousing and joyful ribbon cutting. Congratulations are also due to Foreman, Steve Lanham, who was a finalist for Craft Professional of the Year. This award recognizes an individual who excels in all areas of their job. This employee exhibits pride, honor, leadership, setting and then raising the standard for quality, is a master of the skills required to do any task required, coaches and mentors others, representing the Merit Shop as a craft professional. The winner of this award best embodies the ideals of Merit Shop through superior effort and talent as recognized by others.
