LADD Achieves LEED Silver Certification HGC Construction completed construction of Living Arrangements for Developmentally Disabled‘s Center for Community Engagement building in 2016. The two-story, 10,200 SF building addition achieved LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in March 2017. Under the USGBC’s rating system, LADD was awared all 52 points applied for to achieve Silver status. Read the full scorecard from USGBC here. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system that measures the success and impact of a building’s sustainability efforts. LADD achieved LEED Silver Certification for New Construction. This covers seven categories of evaluation – Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, Innovation in Design and Regional Priority. We set a goal of achieving LEED certification early in the planning for the LADD new building expansion, requiring us to meet high standards for site development, resource consumption, materials selection and the indoor environment. As a LEED project, HGC worked closely with emersion Design LLC to maintain the standards for application upon project completion. Highlights of the project’s green design and construction include: Utilizing recycled and regional materials Geothermal wall system was installed to increase efficiency Erosion control Development of construction waste management plan Diversion of recyclable materials to appropriate facilities to avoid landfills Senior Project Manager, John Neyer, PE, LEED AP BD+C, and Project Engineer, Tyler Reifenrath were instrumental in the success of this project.
